Production notes
It is in memory of the Ethiopian adventures of the grandfather, D’Onofrio, that the flagship cuvée of the estate is called Negus, as it reigns supreme over the entire vineyard’s production. With a nearly opaque ruby red color surrounded by violet reflections, Negus presents powerful aromas of black cherries and blackberries, intertwined with pepper, cinnamon, and ginger. A compact, dense volume fills the mid-palate, launched by a lively attack. Strong tannins complete this balanced picture, where the flavors are rich in small black fruits, licorice, and roses. Here lies the ideal of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo: powerful, persistent, and penetrating. Limited production. Bottles are numbered.
