Production notes
When you have neighbors like Lafite Rothschild, Mouton, and Pontet-Canet, you have to know how to hold your own. The tiny hectare of Chanteclerc (a survivor from Fleur Milon) produces a single micro-cuvée that doesn’t let itself be overshadowed. Refined by 16 to 18 months in oak barrels (60% new). The exuberant nose offers blackberries, black cherries, balsamic notes, anise, and vanilla. True to its terroir, the structure is like that of a rugby lock: imposing, powerful, and firmly rooted with high acidity and robust tannins. The finish lingers, reminding us that patience will be needed (8-10 years or more) before it can be fully appreciated. In this small-production 2021 vintage, Pauillac has played its hand well. We can be confident!!!
