About this winery

De Stefani Estate, situated in the rolling hills of Conegliano and Refrontolo (a UNESCO World Heritage site), has been renowned since 1918. It’s believed that Ernest Hemingway, who was wounded during World War I, might have found inspiration for A Farewell to Arms in the estate’s wines, as he received medical care here. Today, the 28-hectare estate is led by Alessandro De Stefani, who holds a doctorate in oenology. Since 1990, he has crafted exceptional wines, from Prosecco Valdobbiadene...

Production notes

It is a parcel named KREDA (Clay in the local dialect) nestled within the clay-limestone terroir of La Ronche (Piave) that gives birth to this cuvée, a star in De Stefani's production. An ancient variety, known over 2000 years ago in this region under the dual influence of the Dolomites and the Adriatic, Refosco del Pedonculo Rosso takes center stage here. Aromatic power, elegance, and refinement. The deep ruby robe with violet highlights releases aromas of ripe fruits, with brandy-soaked plums at the forefront, followed by violets, nutmeg, underbrush, and leather. The vibrant acidity balances the powerful alcohol, while the silky, plump tannin structure contributes to this harmonious sensation on the palate. A long cascade of fruity, jammy flavors concludes the experience. It's no surprise that this cuvée was crowned Best Refosco of Italy in 2023. A wine of exceptional quality!
